  • Currently, we are seeking requests from professionals, teachers; from wisdom spiritual traditions, and others, who would like to share their visions of living mindfully in a residential community , and desire, to live and work independently and collectively in a supportive setting, within the vision of Yumtha.

Buddhist ImageYumtha means “Spiritual Healer” in the Pomo Indian Language. The name Yumtha was given to us to use for our vision by a Pomo Elder. It refers to the doctor/healer, ..."One who sees the needs of another, a community, then through inner vision, knowledge and wisdom implements a cure."

Yumtha Mission Statement:
To create a model of living and dying based on compassionate and contemplative practices, within a supportive residential setting which is part of a greater multi-cultural community.

Yumtha is also an integrative retreat, education and vocational center, when the full vision of of residential center is finished, we will be offering classes for residents and the public. Our programs nurture one’s multi-cultural spiritual needs, while creating a model of support and inter-connection with the larger communities in which we live.

The center is engaged in research and development, and is documenting the  ‘oral history of dharma teachers with the use of multi-media publishing tools to enhance learning, education and outreach.

Currently, our focus is on education and training for outreach to home caregivers and professionals working residential facilities:

Our training is called "MettaCare" ( "Metta" means loving kindness)

Metta Care is being developed in association with Yumtha Center for conscious living and dying. www.yumtha.org

Mission: To create a Metta Care Association (MCA) of alternative healing professionals, which supports a model of care for wellness, aging and dying based on compassionate and contemplative practices, within a greater multi-cultural community.

The MCA Vision is to offer Compassionate, Contemplative Care trainings combined with CEU trainings for professionals who would like to treat and care for patients who live at home, in residential care settings and assisted living homes. Our aim is to create an inclusion of alternative care providers into an area where they are often excluded. Our association’s aim is to bridge professionals with the community and care facilities, creating a connection with qualified professionals with compassionate care, understanding and awareness.

MCA is open to Acupuncturists, Chiropractors, medical professionals; doctors and nurses, therapists, counselors, physical therapists, massage practitioners, movement specialists; qigong, yoga…and attorneys.

The Yumtha Vision has been

Inspired by the wisdom of the Dalai Lama,

“ To die well, is to have lived well, is to have an auspicious rebirth.”

This wisdom expresses the essence of the teachings and practices, which we nurture at Yumtha. We aspire to live within wisdom and compassion while offering a place, which nurtures the heart, mind and body, as well as our spiritual nature.

"We must develop a sense of universal responsibility... It is the collective and individual responsibility to protect and nurture the global family, and to preserve and tend the environment in which we all live".  H.H. Dalai Lama

At Yumtha, we honor our sacred inter-connectiveness.
